Frequently asked questions.

Everything about taking bookings for your space on Shopify with Booker. Still stuck? Email booker-app@protonmail.com.

Getting started.

What does Booker do?

Booker turns a Shopify product into a bookable space or time slot. Customers see live availability on the product page, pick a slot, and pay through your normal Shopify checkout.

What can I rent out with it?

Any space you hire for a length of time: photography and film studios, darkrooms, meeting rooms, rehearsal and music rooms, coworking desks, sports courts, event venues and workshops.

Do I need a separate booking tool or website?

No. Booking and payment run on your existing Shopify checkout, so your orders, customers and payouts work exactly as they do now.

How do I set it up?

Booker opens a setup guide and takes you through it one step at a time: choose a plan, set your opening hours, create your first bookable product, add the calendar to your product page, and take a test booking. Setting up a product is a handful of plain questions, not a form.

Bookings and availability.

How does it stop double bookings?

A slot is held the moment it goes in the cart and checked again at checkout, so the same time can never be paid for twice on the same space.

Can customers book by the hour?

Yes. Choose a slot length, usually an hour, and customers pick a start time and how many they want in a row. You can also sell half days and full days, or all three at once.

Can I set opening hours and block out dates?

Yes. Set the hours you are open each day, an optional daily break like lunch, a minimum notice so nobody books twenty minutes from now, and the dates you are closed. Closed dates can be a whole day or part of one. On the Pro plan a product can keep its own hours as well.

Can I leave a gap between bookings?

Yes, on the Starter and Pro plans. Set how long you need before and after each booking, for example 30 minutes to clean the studio. Customers never see it; those minutes simply are not offered.

Can I ask the customer questions when they book?

Yes, on the Starter and Pro plans. Add your own questions, for example how many people are coming, and the answers show on the order, your calendar and your booking emails.

Can I add a booking myself?

Yes. You can add a walk-in or phone booking by hand from the admin, and it blocks that slot like any other.

Spaces and different uses.

Can I offer more than one space?

Yes. Sell several identical ones, say three rehearsal studios sharing one price, and three customers can book the same time. On the Pro plan you can give each space its own name and its own prices instead, so a customer books the exact one they want.

Can I charge different prices for the same room?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Sell one room under different headings at different prices, for example a hall as Birthday party or Corporate hire. It is the same hall, so a booking under one heading takes that time for all of them.

Can two separate products share one room?

Yes, on every plan. If the same room is sold as two products with their own pages and prices, link them and a booking on one takes that time on the other. Customers can also take several of your spaces at once on the Pro plan, with money off when they do.

Can I sell paid extras?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Add things a customer can tick when they book, like a lighting kit or cleaning, each with its own price. They are charged in the same order as the booking.

Pricing and billing.

How much does Booker cost?

There is a free plan for one product. Starter is $9.99 a month for up to three products with emails and Google Calendar sync. Pro is $19.99 a month for unlimited products, several spaces, classes, deposits and paid extras.

How am I billed?

Paid plans are billed monthly through Shopify and appear on your Shopify invoice. You can change or cancel any time.

Is there really a free plan?

Yes. The free plan lets you take bookings on one product with all the core booking tools, at no cost.

Payments and checkout.

Do customers pay through Shopify?

Yes. Booking and payment run on your normal Shopify checkout, so your orders, customers and payment setup work exactly as they do now.

Can a customer pay by bank transfer or cash on delivery?

Yes. If you offer a manual or offline payment method in Shopify, Booker holds the slot the moment the order is placed and keeps it held until you mark the order as paid, so it is not resold in the meantime. This works on every plan.

Can I take a deposit instead of the full amount?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Set a deposit percentage per product and the customer pays that share at checkout. The balance is recorded against the booking and shown on their confirmation and reminder emails, and you collect it at the booking. Leave the deposit at zero to charge in full.

What happens if a booking is refunded?

If you refund the order in Shopify, Booker cancels the booking, frees the slot, and removes it from any synced Google Calendar.

Calendar and integrations.

Does Booker email my customers?

Yes, on the Starter and Pro plans. Booker can send a confirmation when a booking is made, a reminder before it starts, and a new-booking notice to you. Each email is optional and can be turned on or off.

Can Booker text my customers a reminder?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Connect your own Twilio account and Booker sends an SMS reminder before the booking. You are billed by Twilio for the messages, and you are responsible for consent and STOP handling.

Does it sync with Google Calendar?

On the Starter and Pro plans, every paid or manual booking appears in a Google Calendar you choose, and disappears if it is cancelled or refunded. Sync goes one way, so events you add in Google yourself do not block time in Booker.

Can I see bookings in Apple Calendar, Outlook or Airbnb?

Yes, on the Starter and Pro plans. Booker gives you a private calendar feed link you subscribe to in Apple Calendar, Outlook or Google, or import into Airbnb to block those dates. It stays up to date on its own, and every confirmation email includes an add-to-calendar file.

Can customers get a calendar invite?

Yes. On the paid plans you can optionally send the customer a calendar invite for their booking.

Can I match the calendar to my theme?

Yes. Style the calendar in the app: colours, corner radius, density, 12 or 24 hour times, and more. You can also choose what happens after a booking is added to the cart: go to the cart, stay on the page, or run your own code, for example to open your theme's cart drawer. This works on every plan.

Where do I see all my bookings?

On your calendar inside Booker. Switch between a week and a day, filter to one product, and click any booking for the customer, the time and a link to the order. Each product has its own colour.

Data and support.

What data does Booker store?

Only what is needed to run a booking: the customer name and email from the order, the order reference, and the booking time. No payment details are stored. See the privacy policy for detail.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

On uninstall, Booker disconnects any Google Calendar link and deletes your booking data, as described in the data processing agreement.
