How to rent out a space by the hour on Shopify

If you hire out a room or space by the hour, you can sell that time directly on Shopify. Booker lets customers pick a start and end time on the product page, holds it, and charges your hourly rate at checkout. Here is how to set it up.

Step by step.

1

Set your unit length

Choose the length of one bookable unit, for example one hour, and set the price for it. Customers can book a single unit or a run of them for a longer session.

2

Turn the product into a bookable space

Create or pick a product for the space and enable booking. On the Pro plan, if you have more than one of the same space, add rooms so each is bookable on its own.

3

Put the calendar on the page

Add the Booker calendar block to the product template so customers can tap a start time, then an end time, and see the price update.

4

Control when it can be booked

Set opening hours, a minimum lead time, and blocked dates. Booker only offers hours you are actually open.

5

Go live

Publish and take a booking. The hour is held at add to cart and blocked at checkout, so it can never be double booked.

Good to know.

Can customers book several hours in a row?

Yes. They tap a start time then an end time, and Booker prices the run of hours in between, up to any maximum you set.

Can I charge different hourly rates?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Pricing tiers let you offer the same space at different rates, for example peak and off-peak, and the customer picks which applies.

What stops two people booking the same hour?

The hour is held the moment it goes in a cart and checked again at checkout, so the same time can never be paid for twice.
